Take Baby Steps

I still remember when it was a daily internal battle trying to make myself workout every day. ⁣I knew the benefits. I knew I felt so empowered every time I was done. I knew I wanted to make it a habit but it was a daily STRUGGLE and I hated it. ⁣So, I want to share with you what I’ve learned about finding inner motivation for self-care over the years. It starts when we take baby steps.

Motherhood as an Excuse

I used every excuse to avoid doing it and convinced myself those excuses were valid to make myself feel better about skipping another day.⁣ I could have used them forever and probably felt ok about just never really making daily workouts a priority cause life is busy. ⁣⁣Motherhood is busy. Everyone always needs me and there’s always something else I could be doing with those 30 minutes. ⁣

Motherhood as the Reason

What I found was I was happier when I moved my body. I was more patient when I moved my body. I was more confident and proud of myself when I moved my body. I needed to move my body for my mental health more than anything else. ⁣Even while pregnant.

I started to realize that motherhood could be my reason WHY I needed to take care of myself. If I was always giving to others, but never giving to myself, what was the point of it all? And I wanted to be a good example for my kids of what a healthy lifestyle looks like, so these habits are with them always.

‘Take Baby Steps’ Became a Daily Ritual

So day by day, I kept taking small steps towards my goal of daily self-care. Somedays my workouts weren’t great because my kids were climbing all over me and interupting me every minute. Somedays were blissfully quiet while I got a good sweat in. Day by day I created a habit that still serves me today.

It’s no longer an internal battle at all. It’s a part of who I am and it’s what my kids know as the norm. ⁣ I didn’t overhaul my health and habits all at once. It’s a lifelong journey and simple tweaks in the right direction will lead you to a version of yourself that might seem unattainable right now. ⁣But I’m here to tell you the baby steps are so worth it every day.

Fall in love with the process of caring for yourself and you will be much more likely to continue showing up than if you are solely focused on the results. ⁣If you need help or guidance along the way, I’m here for that! We can journey together and I’ll be here for it all so you don’t have to go at it alone!

Just shoot me an email at micah@micahfolsomfit.com or DM me on Instagram and we’ll start that conversation and figure out what’s best for you.🤍 ⁣ For today, take the baby step. 🤟🏻
