How to Power Through Ebbs and Flows of Motivation While Growing a Business with Renee Warren

Powered by RedCircle

In this episode, our incredible guest is Renée Warren. Renée is an award winning entrepreneur, inspirational speaker, author, and founder of We Wild Women. She is also the host of the Into the Wild Podcast. We discuss how to build a sustainable business through the ebbs and flows of motivation by creating boundaries and focusing on overall health.

Show Notes:

02:20 Entrepreneurship From 17 Years Old

Renée started her entrepreneurial journey at 17 years old by owning a restaurant. She was making decent money and loved the freedom it created. She talks about being an early user of Twitter and providing social media strategy, which led to her building an agency business. She then created a PR Tech company which grew quickly. After having children, she reached burnout and transitioned to her current business, We Wild Women where she coaches female entrepreneurs.

06:40 Unpacking the Mindset

Renée shares how one of the most important things is taking care of your physical and mental health. She recommends scheduling in time to reset. Her other recommendation is to delegate and ask for help. Look at the tasks in your business where you can be in your zone of genius. The most important thing you’re protecting is your time. Renée shares a story of raising her prices in her business.

13:50 Metrics and Profit

We talk about how women and men view metrics and profits in business. The first thing Renée does with a new client is talk about how much money they’d like to make this year. She wants it to be achievable, but uncomfortable. Making enough money gives you time freedom and allows you to make a bigger impact.

23:31 Living an Integrated Life

The pandemic opened up our eyes to the realities of working from home. Integration refers to the overlap between work and life. In Renée’s company, she loves to hire people that have passions outside of work. She talks about how she schedules time for her passions within her work day and how it actually increases productivity.

28:35 Concluding Thoughts

We talk about releasing the pressure to show up a certain way instead of just being our true selves. Renée realized she had put too much emphasis on trying to get other people to like her. She thinks we need to give more attention to our health. Her final advice is just to be scrappy and only to spend what you’ve made. Things don’t have to be perfect and beautiful, people just want results. We talk about identifying and showing up as what we want to become.
