Four Lessons I Learned Launching our Homegrown Beef Boxes with Micah Folsom

Powered by RedCircle

In this episode, I share some of the lessons I learned from our experience launching our Beef Box Subscription business. Shipping physical products is a whole different game than running an online business in network marketing. But the lessons apply to any area of entrepreneurship. I share what I’ve learned about what it takes to get something new off the ground so that you can translate this to the business or idea that you’re building!

Show Notes:

02:52 Conversations About Business

As we were boxing up and weighing out the beef in our garage, it was go time. My eleven year old son was asking so many questions about the process and it created the opportunity to have conversations around business. We explained that so much of it is new and unknown to us, but we are taking fast, aligned action towards our goals instead of letting fear get in the way.

06:12 Don’t Be Scared of the Steps It’s Going to Take

Don’t get caught up in the research or get stuck in the idea, because when you just start taking action, you will learn so much along the way. When you are in it, you will figure it out!

06:55 Ask Questions from People Who Have Gone Before You

I am not afraid to ask questions and get advice from people who have more experience! This is where I have learned the most in the fastest amount of time. It’s okay to not be the expert and learn from the people who have already found success.  Lean into your mentor. It’s the fastest way to bridge the gap from where you are to where you want to go.

10:46 Failing Forward

You need to learn how to fail, course correct and continue moving forward. Don’t just sit in your failure. Failures are just learning opportunities. I share a lesson that I learned by being on the other side of the ordering process.

14:36 Long-Term Perspective

If you get started in something with a short-term perspective, it will be difficult to sustain your business. It’s better to go in with a long-term perspective and invest in your business. Look at the gaps in your business so that you can identify where to invest and where to focus on growth.

18:55 Lessons in Entrepreneurship

These lessons that I learned can be applied to any area of entrepreneurship. I’m excited to keep sharing my experiences and the lessons I’ve learned as we move forward with our Beef Box business.

    Hi, I’m Micah!

Hi, I’m Micah! Wife to a cattle rancher and homeschool mom to our 6 kids on our small farm in Southeast Idaho.

I’m a top network marketing leader in the health & wellness space, Host of the Do Your Crap Podcast, Creator of my program for network marketers called Ignite Your Life and most recently helping my husband, JD with our new business selling homegrown beef subscription boxes so more families can enjoy delicious meals together with the peace of mind knowing exactly where their meat was raised.

I’m a huge believer that women can live multi-passionate lives and still honor their family values, letting our heart tugs pave the way for us to live out our fullest potential and be the light we’re meant to be.
