How to Build Your Confidence & Self Belief Every Day

In this episode, I talk about how to build your confidence and self belief everyday so that you can reach your fullest potential. Through action and doing the things we know we must, but often avoid, we build confidence and self belief! Confidence is not something that just happens, it is something you create, build, and work on, so let’s dive in!

Show Notes:

Y’all know that I love to pull from things that are happening in life – whether that be experiences, books, questions, conversions, etc.

1:27 MY RELATIONSHIP WITH RUNNING

As an athlete, running has always been a punishment! And this month, I am doing a 30 day running program – something I never thought I would do.

However, I am a huge advocate of not coaching someone through something I’ve never done. So I always do every new program we come out with. The minute they launched this running program, I knew it was going to challenge and push me. I was excited about the opportunity I had to shift my relationship with running and create a positive experience around it. 16 days into the program, I faced one of the hardest days in the program.

6:20 DO THE HARD THINGS

When I finished the hardest run of the program, I felt stronger and more proud of myself than I had after any of the other runs. I just want to remind you that you CAN do hard things. In fact, you NEED to do the hard things.

We all have things on our to-do list that we need and should do, but we put them off and avoid them because they are uncomfortable and challenging. That’s the reason we need to do it. We don’t need to wait for external circumstances or somebody else to applaud us. Every single day we have the opportunity to do the hard thing.

9:03 CONFIDENCE ISN’T SOMETHING YOU FIND OR LAND ON

Confidence is something that you create, build, and work on! And once you have it, it’s not forever. You have to continue to nurture it, challenge yourself, and push yourself to reach new limits.

9:54 GOAL ORIENTED HUMANS

I am reading this book right now called Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz.

In this book he says “Humans are a goal striving being. We are functioning naturally and normally when we are oriented towards positive goals and some strivable goal.” We are naturally goal oriented humans and we feel best when we are striving towards a goal. We put ourselves in our own funk when we are stagnant and not pushing ourselves.

Are you in the habit of only doing easy things? Or are you challenging yourself with hard things that you’re moving towards?

14:10 DO AND FEEL THE UNCOMFORTABLE

I want you guys to feel those nerves and feel that sense of “I don’t know if I can do it!”

It becomes a habit and you can get better and better at it. Even if it feels hard, you go do it and that’s what builds your sense of self worth. You will literally be able to prove to yourself day in and day out that you are capable!

15:48 UNTAPPED POTENTIAL

For your homework this week, I want you guys to make a list of three things you’ve been avoiding. Then, go do one of those things today and see how it feels when you’re done! (Tag me if you do it so I can celebrate with you!)

I want you to be aware of your thoughts. Don’t let negative Nelly or scared Sally win.

We have so much untapped potential it’s not even funny. You have so much life to live and you don’t want to live as a victim in your own life – start taking charge and making the choices that will move you forward.
