Give vs. Get: An Essential Shift to Transform Your Energy & Success

In this episode, I talk about one of the biggest struggles new entrepreneurs face – shifting their mindset from getting to giving. This is servant leadership at its core. Today, I am going to share with you the transformation that happens when you shift to give vs get and why serving others with all of your heart will bring longevity and long-term success to your energy, life and business.

Show Notes:

2:04 CREATING A MINDSET SHIFT EARLY ON

If you can create a perspective of giving vs. getting early on, you will feel a completely different energy. Energy is everything! If you’re operating from the headspace of discouragement and lack of confidence, you’re not going to show up and do the things that it takes to build and grow.

In the beginning, you just have to show up and do the work while pushing through your fears and limiting beliefs. Most people don’t give themselves an opportunity to figure this out because they stop way too early.

3:19 GIVE VS GET ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Many of my listeners are building something on social media, but are afraid to show up and be themselves. This generally comes from a place of what they’re getting out of showing up.

When you start sharing about your products and opportunity and don’t get the engagement back that you’re desiring, you immediately get flooding emotions of doubt, insecurity, and imposter syndrome. This crap fills your head and takes control of everything.

6:00 SHIFT YOUR PERSPECTIVE TO GIVING

Start focusing on what you’re excited about, your message, your value, and how you can uplift others. You can be a river, not a reservoir, of information! When you’re starting something new, you’re not an expert – but what you DO have is an entire life that you’ve already lived.

When you shift your mindset to giving, it will be so much more fulfilling and you’ll want to continue showing up day after day.

9:29 FOCUS ON THIS WHEN YOU’RE STARTING SOMETHING NEW

Earl Nightingale said “Your rewards in life are in direct proportion to your service.” If you’re focusing on the outcome too soon, that is when discouragement and overwhelm happens.

When I was first starting, I didn’t have any social media presence, certifications, qualifications, or expertise in the Coaching industry. I didn’t have anything that made me stand out from anybody else either!

13:34 START WITH WHERE YOU’RE AT

Start where you’re at right now because you have things to share! Share pieces of your journey, share pieces of what you’re excited about, and share things that are speaking to you. When people know, like, and trust you – people will want to do business with you.

15:02 SERVE OTHERS WITH ALL OF YOUR HEART

“If you really want to receive joy and happiness, then serve others with all of your heart. Lift their burden and your own burden will be lighter.” – Ezra Taft Benson

If we approach business and building a social media presence with this perspective, it will completely shift the energy behind our actions.

17:31 WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU’RE DISCOURAGED

If you’re getting discouraged or disempowered, focus on how you’re showing up and shift your mindset from getting to giving.
