Finding Balance in Your Health & Letting Pain Fuel Your Purpose with Erin Washington

Fuel Your Purpose with Erin Washington

Powered by RedCircle

This week I have Erin Washington, athlete, author of “Finding Meaning in the Mess”, and host of the podcast “Squats and Margaritas”. You guys, it doesn’t get more real than this. Erin has been through some of the toughest struggles you can think of and now uses her past to fuel her future and help those going through similar situations. We dive into what it means to have REAL, honest conversations around mental and physical health, and how opening up can be the key to finding balance in your health.

Show Notes:

06:52 Releasing Burdens

Erin spent a large portion of her life struggling with her relationship with food, eating disorders, and body image. It took her a while to open up about her struggles, but once she did she realized a big weight was lifted off of her. She now helps other women release the burdens they’ve been carrying and encourages them to open up about their struggles.

11:25 Finding Meaning in the Struggles

When you open up about your struggles, you not only can help other people, but it also gives meaning to those struggles. Erin’s program offers opportunities to open up to people who have been through the same things. It’s about confronting issues to help break down the power that these things have over you.

16:44 Embracing Vulnerability and Imperfections

You don’t know what people are going through. Things can look good from the outside but there could be internal struggles that you don’t see. We need to normalize vulnerable conversations and address that life is hard sometimes. Open honesty and embracing imperfections is important. Your people will find you when you are your authentic self.

27:25 Finding Balance in Your Health

Having a healthy body is all about nutrition and exercise, it’s finding a balance between limiting foods that don’t nourish you and eating plenty of foods that do, as well as a well rounded fitness plan that allows for rest and recovery. Reducing stress, listening to your body, and noting hunger cues are also very important. When you start fueling your body in the right ways, you’ll start feeling your best.
