A Story About Entrepreneurship Equipping Us for Life & Motherhood with Micah Folsom

Entrepreneurship & Motherhood

Powered by RedCircle

This week, I have a personal story I wanna share with you! It shows how entrepreneurship has been, and how it continues to equip me for life and motherhood. I hear so often from women that they can’t grow a business because they are a mom, even if it’s tugging on their heart. But what if growing a business doesn’t take away from motherhood?? What if it will help you be a better mom? I know for me it has! Embracing the challenges in entrepreneurship will lead to beautiful destinations in shaping who we are as women and mothers! Entrepreneurship is at its core a personal growth journey and equips us to be a better version of ourselves. I hope this story gives you proof that you can have both a thriving business and a very happy family!

Show Notes:

01:30 Going Beyond Numbers

I’ve always said that entrepreneurship is a personal growth journey wrapped up in a business opportunity. The more that you grow as a human, the more it will translate to growth in your business. Metrics matter, but so do all of the things that aren’t represented in numbers. One thing that I learned as I grew my business was having something of my own in addition to my responsibilities as a mother helped me level up in every aspect of my life.

06:20 Actions, Consequences, and Lessons

I had a situation with my daughter which ended up being a significant conversation because it’s something I see happen time and time again, and it revolves around our responses to our choices. My daughter made a choice she shouldn’t have and went into self deprecation for doing so, needing reassurance that she was still loved, and into embarrassment and shame. The big point of all of this was our conversation about actions, how we are not defined by them, and if we handle the consequences with grace, we can learn from these situations and move on.

10:04 The Power of Growth

I thank my journey as an entrepreneur for helping me understand human psychology and how to handle the situation with my daughter. I truly believe that coaching came into my life in order to help me be equipped to handle situations as a mother. Sometimes you’re going to go through struggles, and sometimes those struggles are there for a purpose so that you can learn and grow through them. Growth is the most beautiful part of entrepreneurship.
