In this episode, I have Beth Baker, a lover of all things running, so much so that she created a business off of helping non-runners turn into running lovers. We discuss how to start running, running fundamentals, and mindset shifts to get you moving. Beth talks about her program and the importance of community in fitness.

02:20 Running Journey   

Beth did not like running when she first started, she felt awkward and wasn’t sure if she was doing it right at all. After about a year, she managed to finish a 5k run. From there she started doing half marathons that turned into full marathons. She was fascinated by how people should start their running journey. 

04:53 Running Program     

Beth started a program that focuses on helping people who hate running. Many people grow up with running being a punishment for something or have a bad relationship with it due to negative experiences. Beth helps people grow to love it as a way to move their bodies and feel good.     

07:28 Running Fundamentals    

Good shoes are essential to running. Every person walks differently and has a different body structure, so finding the right pair is important. A good sports bra is also essential to feeling comfortable and holding everything in place.   

09:58 Running Mindset      

Mindset shifts are important to this kind of movement. This is why Beth created this program. It’s set to focus on a positive mindset and building a community of support to lift each other up. It’s all about dropping negative thoughts and creating a safe space for people to talk about their journey.

If you can walk, you can run. Start slow and work your way up, you will get stronger the more you go. Make small changes in your life to focus on health, this will encourage you to keep going with learning to run.
