Boundaries are Essential for Entrepreneurship with Micah Folsom

Powered by RedCircle

Today’s episode is specifically for online business owners. I share some advice that I wish I would have known years ago as I was navigating building a business online while juggling the other responsibilities in life. We talk about boundaries, communication and discipline.

Show Notes:

02:15 No Boundaries = Resistance

When we don’t set boundaries, we create resistance around the things that are essential to grow. Our business is supposed to give us freedom and purpose, not be the thing in our life that feels like it’s boxing us in. We have the control to change that. It often comes down to a lack of boundaries.

03:45 Communicating the WHY

We are the problem, but we are also the solution. We need to identify when we’re going to work, what that’s going to look like, and the things you’re going to do within that work block. Then you need to communicate that to your family, as well as the WHY behind it so that they understand the meaning of what you’re building.

06:50 Letting the Excitement Take Over

I share what I commonly see new entrepreneurs doing. They start out really excited, but they allow themselves to be “on” all the time, and it starts to feel like the business is taking over their life. There is a learning season, so pay attention to how you need to adjust your boundaries. Creating structure helps you stop feeling like you’re not doing enough.

11:30 Building an Aligned Business

We can be successful and have strong boundaries. We are building a business to create a life we love. We have to build the business in a way that aligns with our life. Make sure that everything that you do for your business is with purpose and intent within the time that you’ve designated for business.

14:30 Getting Intentional with No Guilt

Because I’m so intentional when it comes to my business time, I don’t feel guilty for not paying attention to my kids during that time. When work time is over, I can be fully present as a mom. I encourage you to get really dialed in around how you can do this too.

16:11 Creating Discipline in Your Season

The only constant in life is change, so we have to evolve with it. So take a look at what season you’re in, and how you can create discipline. Embrace the process of figuring it out so that you can find the most joy, fulfillment and harmony as you work towards your goals and dreams.

Hi, I’m Micah! Wife to a cattle rancher and homeschool mom to our 6 kids on our small farm in Southeast Idaho.

I’m a top network marketing leader in the health & wellness space, Host of the Do Your Crap Podcast, Creator of my program for network marketers called Ignite Your Life and most recently helping my husband, JD with our new business selling homegrown beef subscription boxes so more families can enjoy delicious meals together with the peace of mind knowing exactly where their meat was raised.

I’m a huge believer that women can live multi-passionate lives and still honor their family values, letting our heart tugs pave the way for us to live out our fullest potential and be the light we’re meant to be.
