Uniting to End Child Exploitation with My Dad, Jon Lines

For those of you who have been listening to my podcast for a while now, you remember that last year I had my Dad on for an episode. He’s back! In this episode, I interview my Dad, Jon Lines, for the second time to talk about his work in protecting children from exploitation and human trafficking. He shares about his 25+ years of experience in the field, his new non-profit organization, and the importance of educating and equipping the right people to help end child exploitation.

Show Notes:

1:22 25 Years as a Federal Agent & Where He Is Now

You have to take advantage of the opportunities that are afforded to you to bless the lives of others. Don’t just absorb, but give back! For 25 years, he was a federal agent. He worked for the department of justice, then the department of Homeland Security after 9/11 happened. He protected the country from terrorism, drug trafficking, and even worked undercover for a while. One of his areas of responsibility was human trafficking and child exploitation online. Protecting children online was his passion.

He retired 4 years ago at the request of somebody who asked him to be in their human trafficking organization. He left that organization which brings him to where he is today. In March, he was contacted by somebody who planned to build an organization that was approaching child exploitation in a unique way.

11:30 Introducing: Coaxion Global

People often ask what Coaxion means – It is collaborative action with a mission to end child sex trafficking and safeguarding children. To battle this problem, law enforcement is critical. One thing people don’t realize is that police officers do not know how to battle every crime that they are faced with. Child trafficking cases are extremely complex, and require extreme technical knowledge. If we don’t teach our officers this discipline, we are falling short.

Coaxion goes around the world and works with law enforcement agencies, and equips them with the knowledge, training and necessary technology to solve these cases. It takes a lot of frontline work to get ahead of this.

19:30 Expanding Their Reach

The biggest problem Coaxion has had was getting their digital media footprint out there. In addition, they are expanding inside of the United States as well as around the world.

22:00 Educating & Protecting The Officers

Just imagine the youngest child you can think of being violated by an adult in the worst possible ways. These are documented on video, and predators will sell these videos online. It is pure evil. Officers have to consume this intellect so they can prosecute the predator, and it can ruin them. You have to be an extraordinarily resilient person to handle this subject matter. For years, we weren’t doing enough to safeguard the officers going into battle. Coaxion is helping them now and setting up some things to help take care of these heroes.

25:30 Talk & Share With Your Children

As a long time administrator, it was realized that they did not have the resources they needed all the time to do this work. If you want to help fortify the law enforcement heroes out there, teach each other how to be safe. Talk to your children!

28:42 Healing, Sharing, & Getting Involved

They do not put the stories of survivors out there -they let the survivors share their own story. If anybody has had an experience in an exploitation or abuse, they are seeking others to ensure their messaging is correct and sensitive. You can get in touch with them here. Follow them on Instagram @globalcoaxion, get involved, get aware, and donate if you have the means.
